Amini Kajunju is currently the Executive Director of the IUGB Foundation. Before IUGB, she was the director of strategic partnerships at Africa Integras. Established in 2007, Africa Integras invests in the development of education infrastructure, which includes academic facilities, student hostels, faculty housing, and related commercial and leisure facilities within and around African universities. Prior to Africa Integras, Amini was the President and CEO of the Africa-America Institute (AAI), a U.S. based non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening human capacity in Africa through education, training and dialogue. A native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ms. Kajunju is the first African to ever serve at the helm of the oldest nonprofit organization of its kind in the United States. In 2016, Amini founded the Bashi Group, an international consultancy focused on education and entrepreneurship in Africa. With 20 years of experience in entrepreneurial and economic development, Ms. Kajunju joined AAI from the Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO), a New York-based nonprofit small business development service provider serving New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, where she served as executive director for 10 years. Ms. Kajunju previously served in program positions at the International Executive Service Corps and Social Science Research Council and interned at the Center for Humanitarian Outreach & Intercultural Exchange, and The Carter Presidential Center. She is a founding member and Vice-President of the Board of ANGELAFRICA, a nonprofit organization whose mission seeks to build a network of business and professional leaders and promote economic growth in Africa. Ms. Kajunju serves on several boards including Junior Achievement Africa, Walnut Hill School of the Arts, Protestant University of Congo and is the advisory council of the UNISA. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Relations with an emphasis on economic development from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in finance and management from New York University.
