Alastair Hamilton was appointed Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland, the region’s economic development agency, in April 2009, responsible for delivering the economic development policies of the Northern Ireland Executive. Prior to joining Invest Northern Ireland, Alastair was employed at BT, where he held a number of positions, including MD for BT Major Business in Ireland before becoming Director of BT Health in London. In May 2007, Alastair was seconded for one year to work as Economic & Business Adviser to the Northern Ireland First Minister. A past chair of the Economic Affairs Committee of the CBI, Alastair has also served as Vice President of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce. He is a chartered Director and a fellow of the IoD. In February 2016, Alastair was the winner of the IoD Lunn’s Award of Excellence and that October won the Public Sector Director of the Year, at the IOD 2016 UK Director of the Year Awards.
