Alex is President of SAP Ariba, the world’s first, largest and most global business-to-business marketplace. An entrepreneur at heart, Alex is responsible for all aspects of the business – from product development, to sales, service and support. And he runs them with a “founder’s mindset,” inspiring the speed and agility that enable SAP Ariba to deliver groundbreaking innovations that are changing the way business commerce is done. Alex has always believed in the start-up mission – and in the power of technology to drive change. After graduating from Harvard Business School, he joined a B2B marketplace and set out to create a new model for buying and selling. After a few years, he joined McKinsey where he saw the amount of change digital transformation required from businesses. Then he decided to join SAP where he could help the world’s biggest companies make the leap. He took an entry-level job building business cases, but was soon tapped to serve as head of Fast Growth Markets where he led the strategy and all investments to grow SAP’s business in countries such as China, the Middle East and Russia. Then he became Chief of Staff to Bill McDermott, the company’s CEO. Along the way, he was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Alex holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from New York University’s Leonard Stern School of Business. He lives with his wife and two dogs in New York City.
