Alfredo José Estrada was born in Havana, Cuba and graduated with honors from Harvard University. After practicing law, he founded HISPANIC, an award-winning magazine for U.S. Hispanics. Estrada is the author of a novel, Welcome to Havana, Señor Hemingway, and the nonfiction Havana: Autobiography of a City. He now lives in Austin and is the Editor and Publisher of LATINO Magazine. It focuses on issues, politics, and culture and reaches a select audience of Latino opinion makers, influencers, and community leaders. Estrada is a nationally recognized expert on Hispanic media has served on the boards of KRLU-TV, the Harvard Hispanic Policy Journal, and other organizations.
