Human rights counsel for Ammar al Baluchi
Alka Pradhan is human rights counsel for Ammar al Baluchi, who is currently facing charges before the Guantanamo Bay military commissions. She was previously U.S. counsel for Reprieve, an international human rights organization that represents Guantanamo Bay detainees and civilian drone strike victims; as well as counsel for The Constitution Project’s Task Force on Detainee Treatment, co-authoring a major report on U.S. detention operations since September 11, 2001. Alka has acted as a consultant to the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
