Fashion stylist; visual artist; creative director, FreeStyle In Detroit

Born in Chicago, Alvita Lozano showed an early interest in sociology, and talent for fashion styling before moving to Michigan to earn a degree in interior design at Michigan State University.

She built a career in architectural interior design/project management working in the commercial sector for 10 years. In 2010 she launched her Blog: “FreeStyle In Detroit” exploring the emerging fashion and art scene with a sociological range of topics. In the spring of 2011 she was hired to style a commercial fashion themed advertising campaign for Coldwell Banker providing wardrobe, art, and photo shoot direction, which appeared in Hour, Detroit Home, and StyleLine Magazines.

On Valentines day 2012 Alvita curated a Pop Up Art Exhibit titled “Fall in Love With Fashion” featuring original artwork from 17 local artists to raise funds for FernCare Free Health Clinic.

Alvita’s artistic work includes a mix of editorial fashion styling, and assemblage installation using everyday objects to explore the development of personal identity, commercial advertising, and psychological trauma. She shoots with a variety of local photographers to develop a collaborative working style and also shoots her own photography.

A founding member of the Michigan Garment Industry Council, Alvita is pursuing a museum studies certificate at MSU.
