Isabel Newton, MD, PhD

Isabel Newton, MD, PhD is a physician-scientist practicing in the field of Interventional Radiology at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and UCSD. Dr. Newton is the Chairman of the Board of the II and is Co-creator and Executive Producer for the documentary, Without a Scalpel. As Co-creator and co-writer of the documentary series, she is integral in content planning, on-site directing, and development of the documentary treatment. She also provides medical expertise for patient selection and editorial review for scientific and medical accuracy. Dr. Newton co-founded the Interventional Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public about Minimally Invasive, Image-guided Procedures (MIIPs) for treatment of disease. She is an expert in developing complex medical information at the appropriate health literacy level.
