Amy Buchwald (actress, comic, writer), beginning her career, trained at the nationally renowned Minneapolis Children’s Theater Company, where she appeared in main stage productions and the touring company. By age sixteen she was a professional, an equity member, and resident ingénue at The Cricket and Guthrie theaters. During her tenure she received critical acclaim for her performances in a variety of professional productions. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College with degrees in English and Art History, her focus continued in acting, playwriting, and directing. In addition to her academia, she studied and trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Circle In The Square, Juilliard, Second City, Shakespeare LA.

Among her accomplishments as a writer and producer, Amy wrote and developed the variety pilot, Loons, for the Minneapolis CBS affiliate. She was a contributing member of The Playwright’s Center and The Women’s Theater Project. She wrote, produced and starred in the one-woman, critically acclaimed, Glenda, from the Heart, featured on PBS. Additionally, the national CVN Late Night Live show centered around the “Glenda” characters she created and comedy performances for which she has been likened to Andy Kaufman. Amy continues to write and perform on the comedy circuit. Currently, her musical Touch, for which she wrote the book and lyrics, is in pre-production. Additionally as a writing partner with her husband Danny Woodburn, she develops scripts for film and television.

As an advocate for arts as a healing power, she has developed the Awakenings Through Poetry Project for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She received Volunteer of the Year Award from the Home Hospice Network, who utilized these works with patients and families. She created and is developing Utsubyo, a multi-media theater project for exploring and understanding the realms of depression.
