Amy Wilentz is the author, most recently, of "Farewell, Fred Voodoo: A Letter from Haiti." Her other books include "The Rainy Season: Haiti Since Duvalier"; "I Feel Earthquakes More Often Than They Happen," about California under Schwarzenegger, and "Martyrs' Crossing," a novel set in Jerusalem. From 1995 through 1998, she was Jerusalem correspondent for The New Yorker. She is a contributing editor for The Nation magazine and teaches literary journalism at the University of California at Irvine.
