Andrea Hagelgans

Director of media relations at Camino Public Relations

Andrea Hagelgans is the director of media relations at Camino Public Relations, a communications firm committed to social change issues. Andrea has an extensive background in non profit and government communications on issues ranging from hunger and poverty to women’s health. She is a national expert on messaging and media strategies for cause-based efforts.

Andrea designs and implements strategic communications plans and cutting-edge media and new media campaigns. She has conducted capacity- building skills trainings on crisis communications, internal communications, media relations, and on-camera interviewing for grantees of the major foundation such as the Ford Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Open Society Institute, and the Gideon project, among others.

She has worked closely with reporters from the most prominent media outlets including NBC Nightly News, The Associated Press, Salon.com, USA Today, Seventeen, Cosmopolitan, JET, O- the Oprah Magazine and National Public Radio. She led a media branding campaign for a new organizational head that resulted in profile pieces in Vogue, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, among others, and secured a photo shoot with photographer Annie Liebovitz as a part of this effort.

During the 2005 New York City elections, Andrea ran the New York City Mayoral Debate Program, featured on WNYC radio, WNBC, Telemundo and NY1. She also led the media campaign to raise awareness of the New York City Voter Guide.

Andrea holds a master’s in political science from Columbia University in the City of New York. In addition to her passion for running, Andrea is a passionate supporter of the ASPCA and the Yorkville Common Pantry.
