Andrew N. Liveris, Chairman and CEO, The Dow Chemical Company

Born in Darwin, Australia, to a family of Greek immigrants, Andrew N. Liveris serves as President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Dow Chemical Company. During his tenure as CEO, Mr. Liveris guided the $57 billion company through the widespread economic crisis while retooling the Company into an innovation-led enterprise that has created unprecedented periods of growth and sustainable long-term value for Dow shareholders.

Mr. Liveris’ breadth of experience and expertise is broadly represented across business, government, academic, and non-profit sectors. He sits on the board of directors of IBM, is vice chair of the U.S. Business Roundtable and a member of the U.S. President’s Export Council. He serves on the board of trustees of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, the U.S. Council for International Business, and the California Institute of Technology.

In 2012, Liveris co-founded The Hellenic Initiative to mobilize the global Greek and philhellene community to respond to the worsening economic crisis and help shape Greece’s long-term recovery. For his leadership and his work for Greece, he has received the International Foundation for Greece Award in Entrepreneurship (2013), the Capital Link Leadership Award (2012), the Aristeio Award in Business from the American Hellenic Council (2012) and the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Award for Excellence (2012).

Mr. Liveris is the author of Make it in America and an award-winning advocate of the importance of Advanced Manufacturing to the global economy, including serving as co-chair of the U.S. President’s Advanced Manufacturing Partnership. A chemical engineering graduate, he continues to support his alma mater as the inaugural chair of the University of Queensland in America Foundation.
