Angel Cabrera, Ph.D.

Ángel Cabrera is the president of George Mason University. The largest institution among Virginia’s distinguished research public universities, George Mason serves over 33,000 students in the National Capital Region. The university has been recognized among the best young universities in the world and has been listed among the top 200 research universities in the world. Prior to Mason, Cabrera served as president of the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona and as Dean of IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. His ideas on global leadership, corporate social responsibility and higher education have been featured by media such as the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the International Herald Tribune and CNN. In 2006, he was appointed Special Advisor to the United Nations Global Compact and Chairman of the international taskforce that authored the Principles of Responsible Management Education and, in 2010, he was appointed by Pres. Clinton as a topic leader for the Clinton Global Initiative Annual meeting. He has been recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Global Leader for Tomorrow and a Young Global Leader, by Business Week as a "Star of Europe", by the Financial Times as one of the world’s best business school deans, and by the Aspen Institute as a Henry Crown Fellow. He serves on the board of specialty retailer PetSmart and biotech company Inovio and has served as the chairman of the Georgia Tech Advisory Board. He earned his PhD and MS from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar, and his BS and MS in computer and electrical engineering from Madrid Polytechnic University-Spain's premier engineering school. He is the co-author of Being Global: How to Think, Act and Lead in a Transformed World (Harvard Business Review, 2012).
