Ann Burroughs

Chair of the Board of Directors, Amnesty International USA

Originally from South Africa, Ann Burroughs is Chair of the Board of Directors for Amnesty International USA (AIUSA). Ann has worked in non-profit governance throughout her career, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Taproot Foundation in Los Angeles. Ann's work with Amnesty began in the 1980's when, as a young anti-apartheid activist in South Africa, she was imprisoned for her work. Amnesty put out an Urgent Action on her behalf which led to her release from prison. She's been involved with the organization in various capacities ever since, working as activist, staff member, Board member, and now Board Chair. Ann lives in Los Angeles, CA and is married with one son.
