Annika Sweetland is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Sustainable Development at The Earth Institute at Columbia University. She holds a Doctorate in Public Health from Columbia University and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Sweetland is currently member of a consulting team from The Earth Institute that provides technical backstopping for the Nigerian Scale Up Initiative to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Millennium Development Goals. Her other work has focused on addressing the psychosocial needs of patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in Latin America and Africa in collaboration with the World Health Organization, Pan American Health Organization, and Partners In Health (www.pih.org).
