Arthur Allen is a writer and journalist based in Washington DC, author of the recently published Vaccine: the Controversial Story of Medicine's Greatest Lifesaver (WW Norton). He’s a regular contributor to Slate.com and has written for many magazines including the New York Times Magazine, Washington Post Magazine, New Republic and Mother Jones. Allen graduated in Development Studies at UC-Berkeley and was a foreign correspondent in El Salvador, Mexico, France and Germany before returning to the U.S. in 1995 and rekindling his undergraduate interest in biology by becoming a science writer.
