At age 16, Asha Mior balances school and homework with working to make the world a better place. She is passionate about many issues including youth empowerment, feminism, poverty, and in particular, the environment. Asha first launched her blog, Asha for the World, in 2013 as a means of sharing her passion and concern for environmental issues with the world. Since then, her relatable, easy to understand articles have been featured in classrooms to help explain issues and concepts such as GMOs, the greenhouse effect, and climate change. One of her recent films, entitled “Air Pollution: Toxins in Car Exhaust” was awarded Top Overall English Video in the EduTOX video challenge. In her spare time, Asha is an avid member of her school’s public speaking and debate clubs. She also enjoys reading, mixed martial arts, playing piano, and spending time with her friends and family.
