Actor and producer
Ashton Kutcher has made his mark on the big and small screens, both behind the camera and in front of it. Recently he completed production on Personal Effects, a drama with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates, and Spread, a dark comedy which will premiere at the '09 Sundance Film Festival. He stars alongside Anne Heche, in addition to serving as the film's producer.
Kutcher gained recognition as Michael Kelso on the Fox/Carsey Werner hit comedy series That '70s Show, which aired for a total of eight seasons. Through his production company, Katalyst, he served as the co-creator and producer of MTV's hit series Punk'd and the CW reality series Beauty and the Geek. Katalyst has developed other films and major network television series, including Miss Guided for ABC and Game Show in my Head for CBS. Recently Katalyst debuted their New Media department, and their animated web series, "Blah Blah Blah," which can be found at www.blahgirls.com.
Kutcher has starred in a variety of box office hits, including the recent What Happens In Vegas with Cameron Diaz, The Guardian with Kevin Costner, A Lot Like Love, the cult hit Dude, Where's My Car, and the Katalyst-produced movies The Butterfly Effect and Guess Who. He provided the voice for Elliot, the quick-witted mule deer in the animated hit, Open Season.
Kutcher was born and raised in Homestead, Iowa (population 100), where he lived on a farm with his parents, older sister and twin brother. To finance the cost of his education as a bio-chemical engineer at the University of Iowa, he worked as a cereal dust sweeper at the General Mills plant in Cedar Rapids. After being discovered by a local model/talent scout, Kutcher moved to New York to pursue his interest in acting.
