Association for Women in Science

multidisciplinary society which represents women across the entire spectrum of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is the only multidisciplinary society which represents women across the entire spectrum of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. AWIS advocates for positive system transformation to quell the flow of women out of the STEM pipeline and aims to improve the workforce ecosystem to create an environment that addresses the needs of the whole workforce. AWIS provides resources for its members to help them fully realize their professional potential; facilitates a national network of interconnected chapters; educates stakeholders about the obstacles faced by women in STEM careers and the opportunity cost of failing to retain them; and works with policy makers, academia, industry and other nonprofits to identify and implement solutions to create a more inclusive workforce culture.
