Avani Patel

Avani Patel is a recent graduate of American University where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a focus on International Development. Avani worked as a Workshop Intern for the Leadership and Capacity Building team at CEDPA (Centre for Development and Population Activities), where she assisted with upcoming training workshops and seminars for women from around the developing world. Before CEDPA, Avani was as an intern at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, where she conducted research under a senior research fellow in the area of women’s economic empowerment in Iran. Avani also co-founded a non-profit in her hometown of Stockton, CA, Stockton2020: A Clear Vision for a Smarter City, which deals with the revitalization of her community through the promotion and development of a better central library system. Avani is fluent in Gujurati, conversant in Spanish, and in the process of learning Arabic. She is an avid traveler, dancer, and reader of good books.
