Student, Virginia Commonwealth University

Bayan is a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing a degree in print/online journalism. Raised in northern Virginia, Jordan, and Palestine, Bayan is a diaspora Palestinian. She is a delegate on the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation’s Know Thy Heritage program for future leaders of Palestine, and spent summer of 2013 with a group of 39 other diaspora youth from all over the world traveling the occupied territories. When she’s not talking about peace in the middle east, she spends her time blogging about fashion and politics, writing novels and poetry, reading about feminist theory, and drawing. She watches an inordinate amount of anime and is not ashamed.
