Beeta Baghoolizadeh is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is working towards her dissertation titled, “From Slave to Citizen: the Racialization of Iranian identity, 1840-1940.” She graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles and has a Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She serves as an editor-in-chief at the Ajam Media Collective, an online space for issues pertaining to the Persianate world and its diaspora.
