Ben Brenkert is a New York-based writer who left formation to become a Roman Catholic priest after learning that more and more lesbian and gay employees and volunteers were being fired by Church. He writes for The Daily Beast. He has published essays in The Washington Post, The New York Daily News, The Hill, The Orlando Sentinel, The Newark Star Ledger and Dot429 Magazine. His story has been published by the Huffington Post, Towleroad, The New Civil Rights Movement, The Advocate, The Washington Post, The International Business Times, Newsday, and The National Catholic Reporter. Ben works as a therapist in New York, and will begin a doctorate at Columbia University in 2017. He adjuncts at the Mercer School of Theology. His memoir will be published in 2017.
