Director, Corrections Accountability Project at the Urban Justice Center

Bianca is the Director of the Corrections Accountability Project at the Urban Justice Center, which is the first national criminal justice organization dedicated to decommercializing criminal justice. Previously, Bianca was a fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice, where she researched the perverse financial incentives created by current approaches to corrections funding. Prior to her fellowship, Bianca worked with various state and local corrections agencies. Most notably, in New York City, she drafted the young adult plan that eliminated solitary confinement for prisoners 21 years old and younger—a first for the nation. And in Pennsylvania, Bianca evaluated innovative performance-based contracts in community corrections. Additionally, Bianca has consulted to the Association of State Correctional Administrators as a writer and data analyst, presenting her work to corrections administrators at their semiannual conference. She also interned with the Campaign to End Mass Incarceration at the American Civil Liberties Union and co-founded College Pathways at Rikers Island, a program for prisoners pursuing higher education. In a past life, Bianca worked in the financial services. Between 2010 and 2012, she was an investment banking analyst at Citigroup, where she conducted financial valuations for corporate clients looking to raise capital or pursue mergers and acquisitions. Between 2008 and 2010, she was an investment management analyst at Morgan Stanley, where she produced retail and institutional investor materials. As a youth, Bianca found herself justice-involved. She has personally seen and felt the effects of our broken criminal legal system and keeps those lost to it and in it top of mind in her work. Bianca is also an Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by Ropes & Gray. In the past, she has been a Harvard University Presidential Public Service Fellow, Ford Foundation Public Interest Fellow, Paul & Daisy Soros New American Fellow, and an Education Pioneers Analyst Fellow. Bianca holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
