Bob Churcher spent from the end of 2001 until the end of 2007 in Afghanistan, working on reconstruction projects for the UK. He travelled extensively by road, working in all parts of the country, including Kandahar, Helmand, Herat, Mazar and Konduz. His interests are in Afghan history, particularly the last 150 years, and in governance.
