Bonnie Levine

Creator, Mindful Classroom

Bonnie Levine, mindfulness coach, Huffington Post blogger, and ceramic artist, has been an educator for more than 20 years. She is a longtime practitioner of mindfulness meditation and yoga. She integrated these contemplative practices in a secular manner into the daily life of the classroom. Bonnie is inspired by the increased awareness and calm she observes in children who learn to use mindfulness techniques in their daily lives. She shares her observations and experiences through a series of vignettes about mindfulness in the elementary school classroom titled, “What’s In Your Mindful Toolbox?” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bonnie-levine-ma/whats-in-your-mindful-too_2_b_5852320.html. As the founder of Mindful Classroom, Bonnie offers consultancy, workshops and retreats for educators and school personnel and supports these populations to integrate mindfulness into their work and personal life. At Bank Street College of Education, Bonnie teaches a daylong Mindfulness and Education workshop. She also makes weekly visits to classrooms to share mindfulness with kids, and creates customized one-on-one academic support sessions that integrate mindfulness and yoga tools. Outside of schools, Bonnie shares her insights and mindfulness tools with adults, and is fascinated by how meaningful, intentional practices can shape people’s responses to daily events, new experiences and challenges. She works one-on-one with adults who are interested in supporting their well-being with mindful awareness practices. Bonnie has studied with some of the leading mediation teachers in the field, including Tara Brach, Jon Kabat-Zinn and Thich Nhat Hanh. She is currently studying MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) at the Center for Mindfulness. Bonnie has taught workshops, courses and retreats at JCC Manhattan, Garrison Institute, and in Queensland, Australia. Bonnie earned her M.S.Ed in Early Childhood and Childhood General Education from Bank Street College of Education. Contact Bonnie at http://mindfulclassroom.org.
