Bonnie Zampino

Bonnie is an Engagement Specialist, trainer, advocate and special needs parent

Bonnie Zampino is the founder and President of A Special Space, Inc., a nonprofit organization. She also works for Ukeru Systems, helping organizations reduce their use of restrictive practices. When she became the mother of a child with autism, she began to experience the special challenges that parents with special needs children face at home and at work. She founded A Special Space to help children with developmental disabilities and their families. As Bonnie began to work within the community, she was asked to educate the public about autism. She developed a ground-breaking, experiential learning training called Experience Autism. Participants engage in activities that simulate the sensory and communication challenges of those with autism. Bonnie’s philosophy is that through personalizing the experience, true understanding occurs and that true understanding promotes true inclusion. Bonnie is a guest writer for Autism NOW and currently serves on their national advisory committee. She has been published in Parenting Magazine’s expose, I am 1 in 50. She was also interviewed and quoted in Scholastic’s Parent and Child Magazine article, 5 facts about autism all parents need to know. Bonnie has her BS in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis and received her SPHR certification in 2000.
