Bruce L. Gewertz, MD, is surgeon-in-chief and chair of the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. He also serves as vice dean for Academic Affairs and vice president for Interventional Services. Previously, Gewertz was on the faculty at the University of Chicago for 25 years, serving as chair of the Department of Surgery from 1992 to 2006. Gewertz is the author of more than 250 original articles, book chapters and books.
