Caitlin Callahan

Global Health Corps fellow, Public Health Solutions

Caitlin Callahan currently serves a Global Health Corps fellow at Public Health Solutions in New York City. During her fellowship year, she has worked to strengthen the health of New York City’s vulnerable communities by supporting programs that target nutritional and reproductive health needs, in particular those of women and children. She has conducted program outreach and direct service, designed and conducted field research, and contributed to policy analyses. Her commitment to alleviating disparities in access to health care stems from her studies at Northwestern University, where she graduated in June 2012 with a Bachelors in Political Science, International Studies, and Global Health. During her academic career, Caitlin was also involved with several social justice initiatives on her campus; she co-founded and directed the Northwestern Living Wage Campaign and served as an executive board member for the largest service and advocacy organization on campus. Her dedication to international development and global health concurrently grew due to exciting professional experiences ranging from an internship at an United Nations think tank to working as a consultant with an artisanal company in Peru, where she helped to identify alternative solutions to the artisans’ lack of electricity and health care. Caitlin plans to achieve degrees in human rights law and public health, which she hopes will allow her to achieve health equity on a greater, global scale, particularly in terms of universal access for reproductive health care for all women
