Carlene Cross is the author of three nonfiction books, including The Undying West, a narrative history of Montana and Fleeing Fundamentalism, a study of fundamentalist religion in America. The Undying West was chosen as a runner up for the Washington Governor’s Award. Fleeing Fundamentalism was chosen as a Top Book of the Year by Kirkus Review, A Top Book for Fall by the Seattle PI, and an Arts and Media Award Book by the Dallas Morning News. Her new book entitled, The Hero’s Journey: A Handbook for Healing, follows her path of forgiveness and acceptance after the death of her son in Afghanistan. see: www.carlenecross.com Carlene holds a degree in religious studies from Big Sky Bible College, as well as a BA in history and an MA in communications history from the University of Washington. She has been a ministerial counselor, a college counselor, and writing instructor at the University of Washington. She was the Coordinating Producer for the PBS series: Bill Nye the Science Guy. She speaks and teaches on the subjects of Forgiveness and Reclaiming Joy. Carlene lives in Washington DC with her husband Denny Cearns.
