Caroline Gerdes is a D.C. freelancer and blogger. She is also a National Geographic Young Explorers Grantee. As a Young Explorer, Caroline conducted an oral history project about the New Orleans Ninth Ward and blogged for National Geographic. She graduated from Louisiana State University where she studied journalism and history (her major and minor, respectively).
