Chanté Griffin

A code-switchin, cross-carryin, cultural-surveyin writer, educator and entertainer who favors books over shoes.

Chanté Griffin is a writer, artistpreneur and arts instructor. She attended Pomona College and Spelman College as a Media Studies major, where she studied how TV, film and emerging communication mediums construct and intersect with race, culture and gender. Whether in front of the camera, a classroom of students, or a computer screen, she is committed to producing work that is socially conscious and soul conscious.

She has written for publications including Ebony.com, theGrio, and the Morningside Park Chronicle. Additionally she has appeared in numerous commercial campaigns and coached contestants on TV shows From G’s to Gents and Here’s the Deal, sharpening their public speaking skills. When she’s not working in the media, she’s in the classroom, teaching youth how to interpret the written word and discover their unique voices.

In her former life she served as a “campus pastor” with InterVarsity / USA at the University of Southern California and as the Director of Education for Junior Achievement of Southern California.

Favorite pastimes? Reading (no less than five books at a time), dancing barefoot to salsa music in her bedroom, and creating comedic characters in her bathroom mirror.

Oh, and she blogs at www.yougochante.com/blog
