Christopher J. Ferguson

Professor of psychology, media effects researcher and author of speculative fiction.

Dr. Ferguson is a professor of psychology at Stetson University in DeLand, FL. He has conducted numerous research studies on media effects including violent video games and other media violence, thin ideal media and body dissatisfaction, and "sexy media" effects on sexual behavior. He and coauthor Patrick Markey have written "Moral Combat: Why the War on Violent Video Games is Wrong" to be released Spring, 2017, examining the moral panic about video game effects that swept world in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Dr. Ferguson also has written a number of short stories in the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres and has a published novel, Suicide Kings, which features a young woman attempting to solve the mystery of her mother's death, set in Renaissance Florence.
