Claire Hughes Johnson

Vice President, Global Online Sales, Google

Claire leads Google's Global Online Sales as well as Commerce & Local sales. Her team acquires and serves hundreds-of-thousands of advertisers, merchants and commerce partners. Since joining Google in 2004, Claire has led product, sales and operations teams in both the consumer and business space, including Gmail, Google Checkout and Google Apps. She launched the Consumer Operations team that today supports all of Google’s users.

Prior to Google, Claire worked in management consulting, developing marketing and customer strategies for large media companies, including DirecTV, The New York Times and Dow Jones. Claire's career began in Massachusetts state politics, working for the Attorney General and running gubernatorial, state and local campaigns. Between elections, Claire spent a year working at Hearst Magazine’s editorial desk.

Claire earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Brown University and an MBA from Yale’s School of Management. She lives in Menlo Park with her husband and two small children.
