Editor and co-author, 'Parenting Beyond Belief'

Dale McGowan edited and co-authored Parenting Beyond Belief (Amacom, 2007) (“a compelling read”—Newsweek) and Raising Freethinkers (Amacom, 2009), as well as the historical anthology Voices of Unbelief: Documents from Atheists and Agnostics (Greenwood, 2012). His most recent release is Atheism for Dummies (Wiley & Sons, 2013). His next project, a book on religious/nonreligious mixed marriages, is due for release in summer 2014.



Dale writes the secular parenting blog The Meming of Life and teaches nonreligious parenting workshops across the United States. In 2008, Dale was named Harvard Humanist of the Year for his work in nonreligious parent education.



Dale is also the founding executive director of Foundation Beyond Belief, a humanist charitable membership organization. FBB has raised nearly $1 million for charities working around the world and coordinates a network of 22 humanist volunteer teams across the U.S.



Dale holds a B.A. in physical anthropology from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in music composition from the University of Minnesota. He lives with his wife Becca and their three children near Atlanta.
