Dan Beckmann

Dan Beckmann is a New Media developer and award-winning journalist whose career has spanned over a decade. He worked on the New Media team in Obama’s Chicago headquarters during the 2008 campaign. After the campaign he founded IB5k, a civically minded digital production agency that produces integrated new media solutions in the government, political, entertainment, marketing and journalism sectors. Earlier in his career, Dan piloted concepts at Al Gore’s Current TV. He also worked at ABC News where he helped launch their User-Generated product, established an internal Beat Unit and earned a George Foster Peadody Award. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, he also holds Masters in Journalism from Northwestern and is currently working on his dissertation for his PHD in Media Philsophy from the European Graduate School in Saas Fee, Switzerland.
