Dan Manatt

Principal of the media firm ManattMedia.com

Dan Manatt is web video producer and entrepreneur. His companies include PoliticsTV.com, CongressionalVideo.com, and EnergyEnvironment.TV.

In previous lives, Dan has worked on campaigns (Clinton-Gore 1992 & 1996) and as an elections attorney. In the latter capacity, he served as legislative counsel to Reps. Marty Meehan (D-MA) and Scotty Baesler (D-KY), for whom he staffed the successful McCain-Feingold discharge petition in 1998.

In 1999, Manatt left the law for web video, signing on with Hotline founder Doug Bailey's venture, FreedomChannel.com. Thereafter he set a number of firsts: the establishment of the first political web video consulting firm, the first campaign video blog, and the first Pollie Award for a web video project, all in 2003. Also in 2003, he co-created HotlineTV, with Chuck Todd and Vaughn Ververs. In 2004 he created DemsTV.com, the first ever web video talking heads show featuring bloggers and young pundits. His first documentary, The Republic of Baseball, premiered on PBS stations in fall 2006.

Dan lives in Washington, DC with his wife, Nikole, but dreams of one day living in her native Vermont.
