Political Scientist and Journalist
Daniel Altschuler is a political scientist and free-lance journalist. He holds a doctorate in Politics at the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Daniel’s doctoral research focused on civic and political participation and civil society in Honduras and Guatemala. He was most recently a 2010-2011 Copeland Fellow at Amherst College, where he continued with academic and journalistic writing. Daniel’s journalistic work has focused on US immigration politics and Central American politics, and he has recently been published in such venues as The Christian Science Monitor, The Nation, Americas Quarterly, CNN, Foreign Policy, and Dissent. Previously, Daniel completed his Masters degree in Development Studies at the University of Oxford. In addition to his writing, Daniel has worked with various non-profit organizations in the United Stated and South Africa, focusing on issues of housing and community organizing.
