Daphne Fairbairn, B. S., Ph.D, is an evolutionary biologist and Professor of Biology at the University of California, Riverside. She is author of Odd Couples. Extraordinary Differences between the Sexes in the Animal Kingdom (Princeton University Press, 2013), co-editor (with W. Blanckenhorn and T. Székeley) of Sex, Size and Gender Roles. Evolutionary Studies of Sexual Size Dimorphism (Oxford University Press, 2007), and co-editor (along with C. Fox and D. Roff) of Evolutionary Ecology. Concepts and Case Histories (Oxford University Press, 2001). She has also published numerous scientific articles on the evolution and adaptive significance of sexual differences in animals, and more broadly, on the genetic basis and adaptive significance of animal morphology and life history. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is currently Editor-in-Chief for the journal Evolution.
