David Threatt, Author & Chair of the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

David Ahmad Threatt is the owner of The Hair Café, Barber shop and Beauty salon which celebrated 15 years of business this year.

Mr. Threatt is the proud father of six wonderful children who are all very successful students and respectable young men and women.

Mr. Threatt has used his platform to open up doors into the entertainment growth of the Oklahoma City community. From styling hair, to fashion and hair shows, various themed social functions, as well as gospel entertainment. He currently is the driving force of the Open Mic Poetry scene,that has sparked a grass roots revolution of the arts and culture for our community. Promotions and event planning have really become a passion for Mr. Threatt and Oklahoma City truly appreciates his efforts in providing good quality entertainment for our community.

In 2003, Mr. Threatt battled with the pressures of being successful and entered a period of deep depression ultimately leading to a suicide attempt. Upon his recovery, Mr. Threatt has turned that negative into a positive for himself and also once again for his community. He is now the Chair for The Oklahoma Chapter for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention which leads the fight against suicide through educational and research programs, advocacy, and support of those affected by suicide. On the brink of a new endeavor, David is an inspiring author with his soon to be released self-published book entitled “And Then I Woke Up "From Suicide to Success" scheduled to be released in 2015.
