David Honig

President Emeritus, Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council; Founder, Energy Equity Alliance

David Honig co-founded the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC) in 1986. MMTC currently represents over 80 minority, civil rights and religious national organizations in proceedings before the FCC and other agencies, and it operates the nation's only full service, minority owned media and telecom brokerage.

Mr. Honig serves MMTC as President Emeritus and Senior Advisor, focusing on broadband adoption, literacy, redlining, and employment and ownership diversity.

In 2014 Mr. Honig founded the Energy Equity Alliance (EEA), which advocates for clean and renewable energy and seeks to ensure that minority and low income consumers benefit from these technologies.

Mr. Honig has practiced media, telecom, energy and civil rights law since 1983, specializing in electronic redlining and race discrimination cases. He has taught and written extensively about issues in the intersection between civil rights and international and domestic communications. The National Law Journal has named Mr. Honig one of the thirty most influential communications lawyers.

A resident of Clermont, FL, Mr. Honig manages the legal arm of the Florida State Conference of the NAACP and chairs its Legal Redress Committee. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Oberlin College, an M.S. in Systems Analysis from the University of Rochester, and a law degree cum laude from Georgetown University.
