David M. Abromowitz

David M. Abromowitz is the Chief Public Policy Officer of YouthBuild USA, and an attorney with the law firm Goulston & Storrs, nationally known for expertise in housing and economic development, community land trusts, shared-equity homeownership, and other multi-layered public/private projects.

Mr. Abromowitz has been a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, and is a past chair and founding member of both the Lawyers’ Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing and Homelessness and of the American Bar Association’s Forum Committee on Affordable Housing and Community Development. In 2004 he was awarded the Trailblazer award of the National Economic Development and Law Center of Oakland, California, in 2007 he was honored by the Fair Housing Center of Boston, was recognized as a "social capitalist" by SCI Social Capital, Inc., in 2008, received the Distinguished Achievement Award, B'Nai B'rith Housing New England, in 2013, and was awarded the Affordable Housing Vision Award, National Housing & Rehabilitation Association, in 2014.

Mr. Abromowitz co-chaired the Housing Policy Working Group of then Governor-elect Deval Patrick (D-MA) and has served on other housing advisory groups for public officials, such as Mayor Tom Menino's initial advisory task force and Mayor Marty Walsh's transition team, and on the board of MassDevelopment, the state's economic development agency. He serves on a number of charitable boards, including The Equity Trust and B’nai B’rith New England.

A former adjunct professor at Northeastern Law School, the New Jersey native graduated magna cum laude from both Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
