David Petrie

Father, husband, writer, parent educator

David Petrie started sharing stories about fatherhood in a proven-effective parenting skills class run by a friend. He was asked to come to share his mistakes and never left; he has now taught the course for seven years. He worked as an adolescent behavioral therapist on a locked psychiatric ward and managed a day-treatment program for juvenile delinquents, but feels he learned the most about parenting while driving a school bus on a long route through the cornfields of Iowa.

David now lives in Vermont with his wife and four children, and works as an editor for an educational publishing company. E-mail him at daddyshome.davidpetrie@gmail.com and he'll write back -- he promises.
