David Kirby is Vice President of Development, managing FreedomWorks’ growing fundraising operations. He is also a policy analyst at the Cato Institute, where he researches libertarian voting preferences and the Tea Party.

Before joining FreedomWorks, David served as campaign executive director for the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) at George Mason University, where he led a multimillion dollar fundraising campaign for IHS's 50th Anniversary initiatives to bring the ideas of liberty to millions of students online and transform academia with freedom friendly professors. David also was executive director of America’s Future Foundation, the premier organization for young conservative and libertarian leaders. In his misspent youth, David interned for Senator Ted Kennedy.

David's publications include The Libertarian Vote, The Libertarian Vote in the Age of Obama, and the forthcoming The Libertarian Roots of the Tea Party. His writing has appeared in Politico, National Review Online, Tech Central Station, Human Events, and other publications, and his research has been cited in the The Economist, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, National Review, and National Journal.

David holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. A college debater, he also has a bachelor's degree in rhetoric from Bates College. David is a (rare) native of the Washington, DC, area, where he lives with his wife, Nicole, and enjoys sailing and competing in triathlons.
