Debbie Pappyn

Travel writer and co-founder of www.classetouriste.com

Debbie Pappyn got the travel bug the first time she boarded a plane in the seventies (you know, the time one could still smoke on board and the only inflight entertainment was the Nintendo Game&Watch). While descending the steps of this plane in sunny Tenerife, Debbie decided she wanted to work in tourism, the biggest and most exciting service industry in the world. In 2004, after her studies tourism and journalism she started to write about travel for several newspapers and magazines in Benelux and beyond. Debbie has her own weekly travel pages since 2006 in several publications such as the quality daily De Morgen in Belgium, the Financial Newspaper in Belgium aka De Tijd and its luxury weekend magazine Sabato. Monthly she contributes to several magazines in the Netherlands, Germany, Uk, Mexico, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. Next to that she contributes since 2008 for the Travel Edits pages and the Travel Top 50 of Monocle Magazine and since 2011 for the Best of Travel List of Gourmet Traveller in Australia. Only the best in travel make it into these pages. Since 2010 she also works as a consultant and a travel stylist for companies in the travel industry and for individual travelers.

In 2008 Debbie and her husband started the website Classe Touriste as a portfolio of the most amazing places they visit while traveling. In 2012 the website won silver for best Personal Website at the Lovie Awards in London. They also won the People’s Category prize at the Lovie Awards for their Travel Blog. In June 2013, Classe Touriste was the first personal (travel) website ever shown during a keynote speech of Apple Inc.
