Deborah Colson

Deborah Colson is a senior associate in the Law & Security Program. She works through research, litigation and advocacy to ensure a greater understanding of and respect for human rights in U.S. national security policy.

Prior to joining Human Rights First, Deborah worked as an Assistant Federal Defender at the Federal Defenders of New York, where she defended indigent clients charged with federal crimes. Deborah has also worked at state-level public defender offices in Massachusetts and New York. From 1997-1999, she served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Nina Gershon in the Eastern District of New York.

Deborah graduated with a B.A. in history from Wesleyan University and received her law degree from Harvard Law School.
