Fiscal Policy Fellow

Derek Thomas is a Fiscal Policy Fellow for Connecticut Voices for Children where we analyzes the state budget and advocates for strategic investments in children. Before joining Connecticut Voices for Children in 2015, Mr. Thomas served as Senior Policy Analyst for the Indiana Institute for Working Families since 2012, where he focused on state-level economic analysis and policy work to support mobility for low-income families. Mr. Thomas’ research has been cited by The Guardian,a Reuters series on income inequality, the U.S. Department of Labor, The Wall St Journal, and Sony Pictures' Ricki and the Flash. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs and a Master of Public Affairs in Policy Analysis from Indiana University.
