Devon Jerome Crawford

Devon Jerome Crawford is a proud native of Birmingham, Alabama. He is the son of Jerome and Deborah Crawford and the brother of Danielle. Devon is a 2015 graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in Philosophy. While at the college, Devon served as President of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel Assistants Program, Circle President of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society, presidential ambassador, UPS Scholar, congressional intern for Rep. Terri Sewell through the Congressional Black Caucus, and an inaugural member of the John Lewis Fellowship through Humanity in Action and the Center for Civil and Human Rights. During his final year at the college, Devon was named the 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar. Additionally, he was initiated as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and published his first work in an anthology of sermons by the Academy of Preachers in 2012. Devon has since been recruited as a writer for the Huffington Post. Devon has also traveled as an Oprah Winfrey South Africa and Zimbabwe fellow to study the Anti-Apartheid movement, African Business and Philanthropy. Devon is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity degree at the University of Chicago Divinity School in Chicago, Illinois. As a licensed minister, Devon developed his theology and social ethics as a pastoral intern at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL. under the mentorship of Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III. His academic interests include: African and African American Religious Ethics, Historiography and Historical Theory, the intersection of Faith and Politics, and social movements in the U.S. Above all, Devon is passionate about preaching the liberating gospel of Jesus and co-creating a beloved world community.
