I began my career as a journalist for The Sunday Leader in Sri Lanka in 2010. I started as the deputy sports editor before being made the features editor of the paper. During my stint with The Sunday Leader I was selected by the US Embassy in Sri Lanka to report on the 2012 US Presidential Election. In 2013 I joined Al-Jazeera as the Sri Lanka Correspondent for their website, and worked with them for 2 years. In 2015 I joined the government of Sri Lanka where I was appointed as the Media Coordinator for the Minister of Highways and Investment Promotion. Following the General-Election in 2015 our Ministry portfolio changed to the Ministry of Public Enterprise Development.
