Dan Rockmore is William H. Neukom '64 Professor of Computational Science, Director of the Neukom Institute for Computational Science, Professor of Computer Science, at Dartmouth College. He is also a member of the External Faculty of the Santa Fe Institute where for several years he served as the Director of the Complex Systems Summer School. He works mainly in computational and applied harmonic analysis and complex systems and his research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, The National Institutes of Health and the Sloan Foundation. He also has a long history of scientific outreach which includes newspaper articles, radio commentaries for Vermont Public Radio and NPR, two documentary films (with a third currently in production), and the hosting of a thirteen part Annenberg Foundation funded series on mathematics. His book "Stalking the Riemann Hypothesis" was longlisted for the 2006 Aventis Science Writing Prize. His current NSF Informal Science Education project, `Rural Gateways', will help give rural librarians new skills to encourage scientific inquiry among their user populations.
