Former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary

Donald Blinken, a native New Yorker, served as the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary from 1994 – 1998. He co-founded the investment banking/venture capital firm of E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co. in 1966, and served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York from 1978-1990. He and his wife Vera currently serve as co-Chairs of the Blinken European Institute at Columbia University. His son, Antony, is Deputy National Security Advisor to President Obama.
